When it comes to nonprofits, especially smaller scale local ones, it can be hard to create and maintain an online presence. The Internet and social media in general have become huge outlets for reaching out to people and getting the name of your organization out there. During one of our lectures we talked about creating and designing our websites for the greatest chance of being searched by using certain keyword tags. This could be of great help for smaller nonprofits trying to become known on a wider scale. Nonprofits have their mission-why they do what they do and then typically the next noticeable thing is going to be their ask-which is what they are asking for from their online community. Since these organizations are not for profit they are more than likely going to be asking for some sort of donation. The more traffic that they have through their websites the more likely they are to reach their goals. By using tags that relate specifically to the organization this is going to attract people who already have interest related to their mission so that is going to make them more likely to get involved with the organization in some way, whether it be them donating their time, money or resources.
